Videos & Recap of The Zafire Takeover Salsa Event!

The Zafire DC Project debuted at The Crown Dance Studio in Fairfax, VA Sat May 21, 2016.  Conceptualized as an introduction to the extended Zafire Dance Company Performance Family,  World Renowned Zafire Dance Company NYC invaded the DMV to offer Day Workshops, a Pre Social Evening Workshop, Sizzling Performances, and of course, a Whole Lot of Social Dancing!  Sponsored by DC’s Newest Latin Dance Promoters, Penguin Productions and Zafire DC, there is NO QUESTION that they DELIVERED on their promise to bring World-Class Instructors/Performers, Exciting Dance Events, Quality Training, and Quality Entertainment to the DMV!

I was unable to attend the day workshops but my spies tell me it was all of that and then some.  I expected nothing less as I have been taking weekly classes with Zafire’s Edwin Alvarez at the Latin Dancer Studio in Falls Church every Wednesday night 8–9pm.  Under his tutelage, I am slowly building a competent footwork skillset while drilling down to a proper basic step, spins, and musicality. I LOVE that class and look forward to it every week so I am sure the material that Zafire Pro Team bought to the Zafire Takeover workshops was well worth it!

The Social attracted almost 250 people in all stripes including supporters, performers, hardcore social dancers of the salsa and bachata variety, and most of VA latin dancers!  The peak of the night had to be the shows- they were AMAZING!  The Zafire DC Debut was impressive!  Of course, Zafire’s Pro Teams including the Debut of Arlette Guerra’s Ladies Team, Carlos & Jariel, & Zafire Dance Company SIZZLED! The Local Teams were not content to let Zafire get all of the shine as they showcased their talent and performance chops to an appreciative crowd.

Performances and some social video dancing below.  Because Arlette Guerra is one of my Salsa Crushes, I pretty much stalked Mambo’s Blond Diva Ambition RELENTLESSLY but she was gracious enough not to tell me to SCRAM.  I didn’t get to film as many social dances because quite frankly, there was too much good dancing to be had by me.  Great event and looking forward to future events from Penguin Productions as well as future classes and showcases by Zafire DC respectively!

Note- I apologize that I wasn’t able to videotape the performance by the ladies of Latin Zone from Baltimore.  My battery went dead and I had to run and switch out during their performance.
