The Latin Zone 1YR Anniversary was ROCKING! Congratulations to Josmarly Cordero for a Splendid Dance event in Baltimore proper! Great Music by Salsa Underground DJs- DJ Dola & DJ Mambo Soul- included a great mix of Merengue along with the usual 90% Salsa y Bachata fare, Good Dancers were present and accounted for ON1 and ON2 and Fantastic entertainment with performances from DC’s Finest Dancers! DC Social Dancers came out and represented lovely but of course, Baltimore was holding down their dance homestead with many in attendance.
The Jack & Jill Dance Salsa & Bachata Dance Contest was great fun seeing Baltimore’s intrepid dancers battle for their Dance LIFE! Judging the first round that would provide the crowd with the finalists who would then be judged in the final round for the winners was very hard but I was in good, experienced company of a panel of judges (Orlando Machuca, Maria Krupholter, & myself) to trim the competitors down to 3 Fierce Finalists. Congratulations to the Winners: Fatimah and Matthew (1st place), Paola and Happy Stone (2nd place), Jose and Nickole (3rd place).
Note to self- always test drive a new shirt WHILE DANCING in the mirror before taking it out on the road (known as the dance floor in my world). My beautiful orange shirt with what looked like a sexy deep plunging neckline when standing in quiet repose became a yawning, gaping awkward reveal of my shy chest lady bits exposing themselves whenever being lead through a cross body lead or any movement which had me raising my hands – which are ALL OF THEM. Great looking shirt standing still, God Awful Shirt in real dance world design. Lesson learned.
